We have been around the Pet industry for a very long time here at Blackdog. Well, not all of us, but most of us. Before we came about to revolutionize the way treats were sold in pet specialty stores in Australia, our parent company was making top quality healthy pet products for the grocery industry… and they still are.
When our doors opened and all this know-how was transferred to Blackdog, we changed the game in pet shops with regard to how healthy treats were packed, branded and merchandised, and we opened up a whole new sector of interest with regard to what a good, functional, healthy treat should look like, and better yet, taste like.
Since then, and unlike most other brands, we are just one of the very few who continue to manufacture our own products, which is why we can continue to lead the way in health, innovation and research into what we can provide your furry family, for their happiness and health.
Having long lasting relationships with only the best raw material suppliers, we continue to source the best produce available, and spin our hand at what unique, interesting and functional products we can put together.
One of the founding philosophies of our production, is our dedication to ethically source as much materials as possible for our products, while reducing the impact our facilities have on the environment around us. Due to this, we have been able to provide a registered Green space for manufacture of certain products in our plants.
Blackdog produces approximately 90% of our products available to market in our two Victorian located facilities, from local produce and ingredients, and continues to strive to increase that number.
One of the major challenges we face in the local Industry is the demand on produce, which often falls short in availability versus what the market demands.
Due to this challenge, we also have very strict contract manufacturing agreements with some long term partners in Europe and Asia, however we take huge pride in ensuring we provide our loyal and important customers with the choice and ability to purchase a comparable product made locally.
Any Blackdog product not made in our local factories is strictly manufactured with our formulations and to our specific standards, and all are subject to stringent Australian Quarantine and Bio Security requirements, whilst being Veterinary Certified, so you can be sure they are of the usual high Blackdog standard.
