    Hot Diggity Dog!

    04 October 2022

The warm days are almost upon us, and we all know that temperatures can get sky high here in Australia. So, let’s talk about what you can do to keep your pup cool during summer.

One of the best ways you can keep your dog cool is to up their water intake. Our furry friends need clean fresh water at all times normally, but it’s a good idea to have extra water bowls around the house. Even adding in some ice cubes on really hot days will help keep it cooler for longer.

As temperatures rise it’s important that your dog has some nice shady areas for them to lounge out in. Especially if they are outside. You can also bring your pooch indoors for maximum comfort. Also, if you are taking them on a walk going early morning or in the evening when it’s cooler can help.

Surprisingly skin and coat have a big impact during summer. A dog’s coat is designed to help them keep cool in summer. Instead of clipping long coats during the hotter months, keep their coat brushed and free of tangles. To keep your pooches’ skin and coat healthy it’s a good idea to choose Australian-made dog food that is high in omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. Such as Blackdog Nutrition….

Hopefully these tips help to keep your pup cool during summer. Of course, for more tailored advice consult your trusted vet.
