    Cats Vs. Dogs

    11 January 2023

It’s the perfect harmony if it ever happens…. Cats and Dogs living together as best friends. Honestly it depends on which Pet you have first. We think if you already have a cat and want to introduce a dog to the family then it might be a little harder. Reason being that cats are quite territorial and get aggressive when they think there is an intruder. Some cats are too cool for school and need to be humbled, so get the biggest dog possible to show them who’s boss!

Kidding, Kidding. We love cats too over at the Blackdog HQ. Regardless of which pet you have first, it will take time for your new addition to settle into their new home. It might be best to keep them separate for a while just to ease the pressure of socializing with another animal. Once they are settled in you can gradually introduce the cat and dog to each other. As dogs tend to be bigger, unless you have a chonky cat, you should probably keep the dog in a confined area so that the cat can suss them out in their own time. It’s also a good idea to have a safe space for the cat to hide away or to watch the dog do its thing.

Lastly, scent is important for both dogs and cats. Allow them to get familiar with each other’s scent, maybe it’s letting one of them wander around the place while the other is safely tucked away in a bedroom. With all these tips, it’s important that it should all be done gradually. Heck, show a picture of the dog to the cat to see what they think, we don’t know… But good luck!
