How to take great dog photos

    28 July 2023

Whether you’ve got 6 Instagram accounts for all your dogs or you just like taking nice photos of your pooch. We’ve got some good tips to help make them look the best! Plus, we have a vested interest in you taking better dog pics since we love using them for our social media accounts. Basically, we are saying Step up your game.

Most of the time you’ll want your dog to look at the camera when taking their photo. This can create an engaging photo but as we’ve found dogs know when a smartphone is pointing towards them and can deliberately look away. Annoying, we know. This could be a good thing though as a ‘look away’ shot can create an aesthetic and thought-provoking image. If you really want a shot of your dog looking straight at the camera. Then Blackdog Treats are your greatest ally. Probably the best way to get your dog’s attention.

Lighting can make a big difference with photography. You need a decent amount of light to avoid grainy photos. A nice sunny day is perfect for capturing your dog, especially if you are out at a park. You can get some nice colours in the image that way.

Lastly capturing your dog in action is a fun way of getting some cool images. However, it can be a bit challenging. Having a second person to help guide the dog on where to run makes it much easier. This is also where toys come into play. Throwing the toy or ball in the direction you want will get them to run, therefore setting you up to take the perfect action shot.

We hope these tips will help you to get some pawsome shots. Don’t forget to tag us on Instagram if end up posting @blackdogpetfoods. We love to see pics of your pooch, especially with Blackdog Treats!
